Who Is Dance Discovery For?
Dance Discovery is designed for beginner dancers ages 6–10 who are curious about dance but are not yet sure which style feels right for them.
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Students do not need previous dance training. Over 16 weeks, they explore eight different disciplines, learn foundational skills in each style, and build confidence while discovering what they enjoy most.

- FOUNDATIONS OF DANCE
WHAT IS DANCE DISCOVERY?
Dance Discovery is a 16-week beginner program designed to help kids ages 6–10 explore eight different dance styles before choosing what they want to pursue further.
Students spend two weeks with each discipline, learning foundational movement, terminology, musicality, and short choreography. Each new style adds something different to their overall dance experience.

What Does a Dance Discovery Class Look Like?
Each Dance Discovery class introduces students to a new style while building on skills from the weeks before. Every class combines technique, musicality, choreography, and performance preparation.

WARM-UP + MOVEMENT
Students prepare with mobility, coordination, rhythm, and body-awareness exercises.
STYLE FOUNDATIONS
The instructor introduces the key movements, terminology, and technique for the current discipline.
TECHNIQUE + SKILL BUILDING
Students practise the core skills of the style through simple drills and guided movement.
CHOREOGRAPHY
Short combinations help students apply what they have learned and build movement memory.
CONNECT + BUILD
Dancers connect choreography to beats, accents, lyrics, dynamics, expression, and stage presence.
REVIEW + PERFORMANCE
Class finishes by performing larger sections of the routine, reviewing key details, and reinforcing choreography learned that day.

Beginner Dance classes take place at Long & McQuade, 10 Via Renzo Dr in Richmond Hill. Our Dance Centre is located on the second floor and features dedicated studio space plus an on-site performance hall.
